W/Mo Ghial the Bone Dancer solo farm...
This is pretty much the same build I use to farm Darkwish's Staff.
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s....php?t=3046770
You can also use this same build to Solo Royen's Hornbow.
Profession: W/Mo
Type: Solo Swird Farming
Attributes:
Healing Prayers: 10
Strength: 14 (+3 rune)
Swordsmanship: 12 (+1 rune)
Skills:
Sever Artery
Galrath Slash
Final Thrust
Tiger Stance (One of my favorite skills)
Doylak Not sure if you really need...nice armor boost)
Healing Hands
Mending (Healing breeze works well too)
Sprint (For the run)
Weapons:
Personal preference should work here.
Victo's Blade
+45 health -2 while enchanted
Summary:
The main goal to this build is to obtain Ghial's staff.
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Ghial%27s_Staff
I really didn't want to post this build because it has been a nice source of income for me. I have gotten 3 staffs and I sold them all for 70k ea. It takes a kind of lot of runs but its a good pay off.
First the location:
location.jpg
Leave out of the North exit of Senji's Corner
Turn to the right and head towards the bridge, then cross the bridge. On the other side of the bridge you will find alot of foes including Orosen the Ritualist. (Hey drops a greeny as well but you will need an interrupt to take him) Head north through the foes and cross a second bridge. At the end of the bridge you can rest if you have sprinted out of agro. Let your sprint recharge and continue north up the ramp to right then turn north again and go down a ramp. You will pass the tengu's little market area. Continue north up a ramp and down where you will run into the first group. The picture is from the top of the ramp.
group1.jpg
Wipe out the group. Kill the ritualist first and then everyone else. Tiger Stance helps kill the foes quickly.
Cross the short bridge after the first group and agro the two nights straight ahead. Be careful not to agro the group to the upper left. You can kill them if you do but it isn't necessary and it takes time. Pull the two back to the end of the small bridge so that you won't agro the group while fighting.
2knights.jpg
After killing the two knights go right down the long bridge and you will see Ghial the Bone Dancer with his group of foes.
ghial.jpg
You can take out your bow and shoot one of the knights and both will come. Pull them down the bridge a little ways so that the others don't come to help the knights. After killing the knights look to see what is next. Mages have no effect on you at all. Mesmers are annoying because they can occasionally interrupt you but for the most part do nothing. The Ritualist help heal so they can be a real pain. 1-3 will spawn with Ghial. If one spawns you can still kill Ghial. If 2 or more spawn then you will have to try to pull at least one (or two if three spawn) so that you can kill Ghial. Ghial with 2 Ritualist heals too quickly so it is better off to eliminate any extra Ritualist.
Once you get to one or less Ritualist you are ready to kill Ghial. If by chance there are three Mesmers go ahead and pull as many as you can and eliminate them so that you don't have to deal with a lot of interrupts. You must be careful when you pull foes away from Ghial. If Ghial comes after you sprint to him to keep him away from dead bodies. It is smart to let all dead bodies disappear before trying to pull a foe that is close to Ghial.
My new favorite phrase for farming is "Know your enemy." What I mean is take a little time to study them so that you can counter the skills they will use against you. For instance, Ghial will use the following skills:
Animate Flesh Golem (Elite) ---Raises level 3-23 Flesh Golem
Barbs ---Take 10 more damage when hit by physical damage
Faintheartedness ---Target foe attacks 50% slower and -3 health degen
Taste of Death ---Steals up to 400 health from flesh golem
Taste of Pain ---If foe is below 60% health, gain 126+ health.
The most important thing to remember while engaging in Ghial (and the reason why you must be careful when you pull him or Foes near him) is to keep Ghial away from a dead body. As he agros a dead body he will use Animate Flesh Golem. The Flesh Golem doesn't hurt you that bad physically. The problem with the flesh golem is that Ghial will steal up to 400 health from the Golem when he gets low in health. And since he can raise another flesh golem from the dead flesh golem, it becomes unlimited health for him.
Also keep your health up by using healing hands early. This will eliminate Taste of Pain and by using it early keeps you out of trouble if the mesmers happen to interrupt you while casting HH.
This leaves only Faintheartedness and Barb to contend with.
Barb does not deal any major damage to you and Tiger Stance and Mending will help offset faintheartedness.
With your smarts and your skills, Ghial becomes a pretty easy kill.
Once you get the foes down to one Ritualist then go straight to Ghial. Mesmers may interrupt and one Ritualist will help heal him, but it won't be enough to keep you from killing Ghial. Only attack Ghial, killing someone in his group will give him the Flesh Golem that he will use for healing.
Concerns:
Sometimes when you try to pull Ritualist foes you will pull Ghial as well. If this happens immediately sprint to him to keep him from any bodies you have left on the bridge. Remember that letting the bodies disappear will also keep him from raising the Flesh Golem.
If you pull Multiple Ritualist, you will need to pull one of them away. You can keep pulling them all the way down the bridge and back across the small bridge. They will gradually separate with this tactic. Sometimes Ghial will come as well. The same tactic works for him and multiple Ritualist as well.
Well enjoy! I created a video and will attach it by request. There really isn't any reason to if you follow the above information.
*edit*
Here is the video for those of you that would like to see the W/Mo build in action. Its after the first group and 2 kinghts are killed. Also there is only one Ritualist in Ghials group in the video. It takes twice as long to kill him because of the one Ritualist healing. 2 or more is impossible.

No problem. Taking henchies always decreases you chances of getting the drop.
Staff = 70k, Soloing Ghial and his foe's = Pricesless

Got any hints on taking out Orosen?
I'd like to get one of his staves, but it's pretty annoying to take him out. I can stay alive with this build no problem, but the damage is too low, and bringing Distracting Blow doesn't work that good since even if I manage to interrupt his half cast Soothing Memories, he uses it again before it recharges.

Tried it out. Getting there was easy (yet long, seeing as it was my first time). I killed everyone except Ghial and one ritualist. Yet, I couldn't get him very low on HP before he killed me. The adrenaline skills charge too slowly. Like Darkwish, Life Siphon cancels out Mending and Healing Hands has a long downtime. Guess I should have left some more alive, but I don't think that it would have helped much. The Ritualist's Channeled Strikes were what killed me. Think I may try killing him with Lint's W/Me build.

The trip getting there was no problem, but imo it does take awhile to kill ghial and the rits for me.
For Healing Hands to work you need around 4-5 attacking you to keep up the healing since once I had only Ghial and a rit left but since faintheardedness canceled out my mending and with only two attacking me, healing hands didn't work so well. You should also alternate Dolyak Sig with Healing Hands

Not a big fan of w/mo so heres a w/me build.
Kill first group of knights at bridge at the middle of the bridge then do so for the 2nd group.
Pull the closest guy to you in Ghials group he might come.
If he comes too finish off brotherhood that came with him first.
Kill his golem then switch to him and hit disrupting chop and finish him off.
Ghial.JPG
W/N seems to work even better than the w/me build.
Even with the ritualist healing you can take him and the others down.
Don't bother going after the ritualist though.

WOW
Makubex and chrislee149, this is a pretty easy farm. It's just time comsuming at times. If mending isn't working for you then try healing breeze, which is what I use. Stee and I agree that both are pretty compareable. I think your just needing to practice it more. Even with just him hitting you, healing hands will be giving you 20 or more health each time he hits you, don't remember what it is with 10 in healing prayers, but that is more then enough to keep you alive while hitting him, remember you have to use tiger stance and dolyak, tiger to kill quicker and dolyak lessons the damage he does on you.
I just know that Stee and I both farm this guy with no problems and I know in most cases I have just him at the end, though I have taken him with him and a mage.
I would just practice a bit more. It really is very easy once you have it down.

Healing Hands heals 25 per hit for 10 seconds. Once you factor in the damage by their attacks, its more like 10 health. Which give you maybe 75 health in that duration. It then has a downtime of 15 seconds in which you are attacked by Channeled Strike for 50-100 damage.

I have tried to Solo him on the same run after going for the Ghial. I have the same problem with his Soothing Memories. I would think that taking an interrupt would do the trick even if its every other one. As long as you take him down a little more each time. If he completely heals then its a stale mate. I will give it another shot.

Not sure why you guys are having problems. If you using the same skills and attributes as listed, you should be fine. You must remember to cast HH before you get under fifty health to counter Taste of Pain. Where Ghial will gain 150 health. One Ritualist is all he can have around him. You must pull all others. I will attach the video so you can download it and watch it. Hopefully that will help you out.
Also make sure that you use Tiger Stance. It is makes the build much more effective. Take a look at the Video and see if you have anymore questions.
